The Museum’s principle function is to increase public awareness of animals, plants, minerals and human activity in the Brazos Valley today and in ages past. Includes a gallery with exhibits of fossils, sculptures, antique farming and survey equipment, a discovery room with more than fifteen varieties of live animals, dozens of taxidermy mounts, educational resources and several exhibits.
We have a new Observation Bee hive, taxidermy animals, a butterfly exhibit, and live animals in our Discovery Room. We have a Texas Heritage Collection of Clovis Points on display in our Library, as well as the Dr. James W. Cabaniss collection of items from Mexico and Central America.
We also have an exquisite collection of Native American Storyteller pottery, a fabulous mineral collection, a gallery of Texas and local history, and a gallery of real and rare dinosaur and ice age fossils. Our main gallery features a national treasure: a beautiful mural depicting the Brazos River Valley in the Ice Age, and over 50 species of animals who lived here 10,000 years ago.
