Each year, Texas A&M’s Center on Conflict and Development (condevcenter.org) partners with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation to award Student Media Grants of up to $5000. These grants enable students to travel overseas to capture issues related to international conflict and development through photography and film. On April 26th in Rudder Plaza, we will be exhibiting the works of this year’s grantees: NIGERIA – "Boko Hazards" by Immanuel Afrolabi HAITI – "Rural Food Security through a Woman’s Lens" by Diana Juárez-Sánchez INDIA – "Ethnic Conflict in the Forests of Assam" by DJ Katju PERU – "Land Use in Protected Areas" by Jessica Gilbert KENYA – "Learning Empowerment as a Refugee" by Ally Krupar BANGLADESH & INDIA – "Human-Wildlife Conflict in the Sundarbans" by Amit Ghoshal Stop by April 26th to take in the stunning photography of these remarkable young photojournalists, and to dig deeper into the stories behind the photographs. PARKING: Park in one of the free timed spaces near the MSC (http://transportmap.tamu.edu/parkingmap/tsmap.htm?map=timed), or park for $0.50/hr in the Central Campus Garage (Koldus) FREE DINNER! **& for those of you who are studying at the Memorial Student Center (MSC) at Texas A&M: We’ll be providing free pizza at 7pm!
